WHAT IS CAMP STEAM AHEAD?

STEAM is a summer camp with an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

CAMPERS ARE...

given opportunities to take thoughtful risks, engage in experimental learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process. Children become innovators, educators, leaders, and learners, through experiences that are relevant to people and places that exist in the real world. 

COUNSELORS ARE...

provided with opportunities to develop leadership, strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills that support engagement with the campers in meaningful ways. Counselors are challenged to embrace their own creative thinking as they go above and beyond to create meaningful experiences for campers and their families. 

LICENSED TEACHERS...

eagerly offer children endless possibilities that spark children’s imaginations, support digging deeper, and make connections while encouraging each camper. The teachers help students reason and answer questions of:

• How do I prove it?  
• How do I measure, compare or represent it? 
• How do I take in and express ideas? 
• What are others' perspectives on this? 
• What do I bring to this process?
